Before you reach the entrance to Carlsbad Caverns National Park, there is a small tourist town. Can you tell we are getting close to Roswell, NM?
It was a beautiful day in the desert and we were all excited to explore the caverns.
The kids saw they had a Junior Ranger Program, and all signed up to do it.
The entrance to the caverns is actually and amphitheater, where in the summer months you can go at sunset and watch the bats fly out.
Here we go on our journey down!
This looks like a whale's mouth. Coincidentally, this formation is called Whale's Mouth.
Finally, at the bottom. 750 feet underground.
Wait! There is concessions down here?
And restrooms? Kind of reminds me of Goonies.
Definitely one of the coolest places on Earth. We will so be coming here often!
