Over the weekend, Jimmy and I took the kids to Disneyland. We had been planning to go for a long time and finally found a time that we were able to.
We awoke at 4:30 a.m. on Friday and got the kids ready to go. We finally got on our way around 6 a.m., and arrived in Anaheim around 10:30. We decided to locate our hotel first, even though we couldn't check in yet. When I booked the hotel, it said it was 2 blocks from Disneyland. What it failed to mention was that 2 blocks translated into a mile away.
The hotel was nice enough to give us a guest pass so we could park our car there and we walked our lovely mile to Disneyland.
When we got there, we decided to go to California Adventure first. The kids, when they weren't being cranky while we waited in line, seemed to really enjoy the park. We rode all the rides we could, mainly the ones with out height limitations, which surprisingly turned out to be a lot. Jim and I even acquired fast passes for the California Screamin' and Soaring rides. Overall, California Adventure was a lot of fun. I think Izzy's favorite part was either the Redwood Challenge Trail (I know this was Alex's favorite) or the Disney Playhouse live on stage.
We left California Adventure around 8:30 p.m. and walked toward our hotel. Before we checked in, we ate dinner at Baker's Square.
The next day, we awoke around 7 a.m., got ready and headed towards Disneyland around 9 a.m. On the way there, we saw someone from our church crossing the road in the opposite direction as us. He and his twin brother are both dentists and were in town for the dental convention. We weren't sure which one he was, but said hi anyways. He didn't recognize us and continued on his way (he looked like he was in a hurry anyways).
When we finally arrived inside the "Magic Kingdom," I thought Alex and Izzy's eyes would pop out of their heads. They were entranced (it is amazing what Disney does to our kids). We went on a bunch of rides (again, all the ones that don't have height limitations). We even took the kids into the Haunted Mansion and Izzy rode the Matterhorn twice (once with Jimmy, and then with me).
Do to the heat of the day, and my tiredness, we decided to break for an early lunch and headed toward Downtown Disney. There, we went to the ESPN Zone for lunch. We waited only about 10 minutes to get a table (it was about 4 p.m.). When we left around 5 p.m., the place was packed, and the wait was around an hour and a half! The food was pretty good, but it is one of those places you mainly eat at for the atmosphere.
After dinner, we went back to the park and rode more rides. We left the park about 9 p.m. and went back to the hotel to get a good nights sleep.
